Attendees of the 2012 Family Reunion
Welcome to our family website, honoring the offspring of Armstrong and Venus McCall and David and Ella McElwain. Their history and the history of their offspring is your history. That history has been passed down from generation to generation, mainly in an oral fashion. Because much of the history was not written down, much of what we know today has come from the elders of the family’s different great-grandson branches. We have heard wonderful, sad, and colorful stories of how our ancestors persevered. We have heard about their struggles and their triumphs and all the ways that they endured in the Jim Crow South. We are all the products of these beautiful, powerful, strong, loving, and caring ancestors. For us, that history began with Ruth McElwain and/or William McCall.
A word about the people this site is honoring. Some of you might ask, who are Armstrong, Venus McCall, and David and Ella McElwain? Let me explain it this way. Ruth is the daughter of David and Ella McElwain. Ruth’s first husband was William McCall, and William is the son of Armstrong and Venus McCall. Now that you know that, check out the website.
